After School Enrichment



There is still time to enroll! The following classes still have openings.

Monday Go Healthy/Go Green, Tuesday Music Around the World, Creative Writing and Floor Hockey, Wednesday Creative Writing I and American Sign Language, Thursday Spanish 101, Springtime Crafts and Sewing, Friday Art from Art

Children who have not enrolled in any courses will be given first priority to these openings. Please download the enrollment/consent form and submit it no later than Monday 3/8.

Please do not send in any payment for courses at this time. A Confirmation Letter confirming your child's enrollment in their chosen course(s) will be sent home. This letter will indicate if payment is due, and we ask that you submit it then. If you desire paper copies of the forms, please contact Kristen Chinosi at kmchinosi@yahoo.com or 425-7865.

Funds are available to supplement course fees if necessary. Please contact Kim Cyr at 434-0418.

This program requires many volunteers!!

If you are able to volunteer during the weeks the program runs, please click on the Enrichment Volunteer link, print and complete the form and return it to school with your child asap.

Course Descriptions



No Bake Cooking Grades 1-3 ~ Free
DVS parent and professional caterer will lead this class in creating a variety of mouth watering no- bake treats. Have fun cooking while learning the importance of proper measuring and recipe reading.

Beading Grades 3-5 ~ $2
Create your own beaded masterpieces using a variety of mediums including polymer clay and memory wire. You’ll take home your own unique pendant, necklace, bracelet and bookmark!

Get Healthy/Go Green with Stonyfield Yogurt Grades K-2 ~ Free
Did you know that Stonyfield Yogurt’s headquarters are down the street in Londonderry?! Come learn about how Stonyfield makes their delicious yogurts and how they stay so environmentally friendly! Of course there will be yogurt making, tasting and projects using recycled materials.

Music Around the World Grades K-2 ~ $2
Preschool teacher and former KinderMusic teacher, Ms. Strout, will lead this toe tapping class as she introduces sounds from around the world. Explore one country or culture a week through music, dance and games. Learn about native instruments and try some out.

Creative Writing Grades 3 -5 ~ FREE
Welcome to wonderful world of creative writing! This program will focus on short story writing based on various weekly themes. Students will participate in thoughtful writing exercises and peer editing as well as group readings of short stories and discussion on what makes the pieces engaging!

Floor Hockey with Ms. Dorazio Grades 4 and 5 ~ FREE
Join Ms. Dorazio for some full length floor hockey games! Review the basics of the sport and jump into the action! Sneakers required for play.

The Art of Pottery Grades K-2 ~ Free
Michael Gibbons of Nutfield Pottery will give students a first hand look at the process of pottery making. Students will have their own clay to mold and shape into pinch pots that will be fired, painted and taken home.

Kitchen Creations Grades 3-5 ~$3
For Kids Who Cook of Derry, provides a professional hands-on cooking class that will have you preparing a potpourri of yummies. Each week students will prepare an Italian dish from the Dine ‘N Dash series. Oven-ready meals such as Lazy Crazy Lasagna and Chicago Style Pizza will be taken home to be baked and enjoyed.

Creative Writing Grades K-2 ~ FREE
Welcome to wonderful world of creative writing! This program will guide you in writing and illustrating your own masterpiece based on different weekly themes.

Fetch Club Grades 4 and 5 ~ $Free
Dig into experiments in science and engineering like Ruff on the PBS hit show Fetch with Ruff Ruffman. Ms. Chase of the Derry Public Library’s Children’s Room will lead students in hands-on activities such as kazoo making and building with index cards!

American Sign Language Grades 3-5 ~ FREE
The Pinkerton Academy American Sign Language Club offers an opportunity to learn the basics of sign language. Use your hands to speak, spell and sing!

Spanish 101 Grades 3-5 ~ FREE
The Pinkerton Academy Spanish Club is excited to offer a basic Spanish language class. Learn some key phrases, songs and a bit about Spanish culture.

Intro to Martial Arts Grades K-5 ~ FREE
Tim Barchard’s Professional Marital Arts Studio of Derry will lead kids in drills and games. They will have fun while learning basic Karate skills. No martial arts experience required, but comfortable clothing and sneakers are a must!

Outdoor Exploration Grades K-5 ~ $3
Take a walk in the woods and learn about the plants and wildlife in our school’s backyard! Join the skilled staff of Amoskeag Fishways and embark on a nature expedition of learning and games. Come dressed to be outside!

SpringTime Crafts Grades K-2 ~ $2
Use a variety of materials as you create crafts inspired by spring. DVS parent and kindergarten teacher, Mrs. McCrevan will guide students in sculpting, painting and drawing. Children will take home a creation each week.

Intro to Sewing Grades 4 and 5 ~ FREE
Retired DVS teacher Mrs. Sullivan will teach the basics of sewing by hand and machine. By the end of the session you’ll have made your own unique pillow covering.

Soccer Fun Grades K-2 ~ FREE
Experienced soccer coach and DVS parent will teach kids the basics of soccer. Students will participate in games and drills that will focus on agility, ball management and teamwork….all while having a great time! Class will be held outside if weather permits, so dress appropriately, wear sneakers and bring a water bottle.

Lego Challenge Grades K-5 ~ $2
Love Legos? In this course you will work in teams as well as independently to complete Lego building challenges. Develop your team work and problem solving skills while having tons of fun! This class was so popular last year, we are offering 3 sessions this year!

Intro to Baton Twirling Grades K-3 ~ FREE
Learn the basics of baton twirling with the National Champs, the Red Star Twirlers. Great fun and physical fitness for boys and girls! Batons provided, wear sneakers.

Art from Art with the Currier Gallery Grades 3-5 ~ $3
The Currier Art Center of Manchester NH is bringing its multi media art lessons to DVS! The program titled All About Animals in the Currier Collection will have students viewing pieces of art from the Museum and creating their own pieces using pencil, oil crayon, tempera paint and pasted papers.
